For Immediate Release: A Taste of Ancient Rome and Carthage

College Park, MD - Have the Post Holiday Blues? Come out of the cold and sample some historical cuisine. Join local author and historian, Angela Render for an evening of fun and food as she discusses religious practices in ancient Rome and Carthage. Angela will read an excerpt from her novel, Forged By Lightning: A Novel of Hannibal and Scipio (ISBN 1411680022). Her talk will be accompanied by a display of period reproduction weaponry and samples of desserts from ancient Rome and Carthage. Book signing to follow.

Ancient Rome and Carthage Revisited
Join local author and historian Angela Render at Spark of Spirit in College Park, Maryland on Thursday, January 31, 2008 from 7:30-9pm, for special evening. The author will give a reading from her recent historical fiction novel, Forged By Lightning: A Novel of Hannibal and Scipio (ISBN-10: 1411680022), while participants sample recipes from ancient Rome. A discussion of the religious practices during the late Roman Republic and Carthaginian empire—the time period covered in the novel—as well as a Q&A with the author and book signing will follow.
